Bullet For My Valentine used to be a hit and miss for me. Each song would be 80% good but something would ruin it and usually, it would be the screaming. Everything else would rock balls. To be honest, they had a couple 100% songs for my tastes and did get better with time. Being a favorite of my brother, Anthony, I was excited to see if their latest take would make me queasy. Let’s find out together.
“Your Betrayal” kicks my ass right away. Nothing about this turned me away. The lyrics are especially cool.
“Fever” continues that ass whooping and I can’t sit still. But I have to so I’m just going to sit back and see where my mind winds up going.
“The Last Fight” is my favorite so far. My mind is still cruising the alternate dimensions. I can’t find a better soundtrack right now.
“A Place Where You Belong” gently eases me to a new realm where satisfaction comes in catchy leads, riffs, chord arrangements and solid vocals. Unbelievable!
“Pleasure and Pain” runs with scissors. This is the reason you fell in love with BFMV in the first place.
“Alone” does it right. I think someone’s fingers bled after this song was recorded.
“Breaking Out, Breaking Down” gets me half through the album and I am sore in a good way. Each song is consecutively awesome. BFMV has found the correct balance for my tastes and I am in awe.
“Bittersweet Memories” slows it down a bit and does it well. The lyrics are pretty sweet as well.
“Dignity” shoots rubber bands in my eyes and for some reason, it feels good. I love their style this time around.
Perfection continues with “Begging For Mercy.” This is the grittiest song I’ve heard yet and I’m sad to see there is just one song left. 10 for 10 is ridiculously good for an album. I’m confident about the last song.
“Pretty On the Outside” ends this album and it’s incredible. It’s an anthem and a face kicking all in one.
I have to say, I was impressed. Maybe I was a douche in the past. I’ve heard their older stuff and this album blew me away. If you’re like me, don’t worry about this latest one. Check it out. If you’re a fan like my brother, check this out. If you want meat and potatoes in every song and not one shred of yuck, this album has to be in your top ten of recent top ten lists. I can’t avoid giving this stellar album an A all across the board!
