Ardor’s debut album

It’s sad when an awesome band disbands. Yes, I put those two words back to back. But even though they’re no longer together, this is an album that would have made it very far. All the elements are there with a sexy front woman who has a voice from the gods, guitars and bass and drums from the fires of Hades and a producer that knows how to pull it off. Steve Dwyer did an excellent job with Christine, Brian, Jared, Corey and Brandon. They are metal in the vein of All That Remains, Kittie and even surpass them in many ways. “Unity” unzips the album’s pants and says, “look here, my balls are big!” Christine’s back and forth with screaming and singing is breathtaking and the hooks throughout this song will let you know that what follows is a metal treat.

“To Forget With Time” is heavy and beautiful. The lyrics are magic and the feel of the song is a winner.

“The Threat” gets me good. In fact, I just turned around and punched the crap out of my dog. Just kidding, I don’t have a dog but I gotta punch something.

“A Love Like Mine” plays next and this was the one that turned me onto them in the first place. The chorus is mesmerizing, the guitar riffs and leads are delicious and the male growl voice helps paint the tone of what this song is truly about.

“Lost In Black” is even better and the first half of this album has got me singing sweet tones.

“Voices” is hypnotic in its metal way. I wonder if Christine has a pair in her pants. There’s something about her vocals that surpass all other female bands. There is no Evanescence comparison here.

“Be(lie)ved” is like being slapped by a gang of octopuses. I’m ready to wrestle something.

“Me Vs. You” is the heaviest yet and I’m wondering if Christine is possessed.

“Like A Prayer” makes my testicles tight. It’s a Madonna cover and I think even Madonna dropped her jaw. I might listen to the rest of this album without pants on.

Sadly, “On Broken Wings” ends this album but it does so with power. There’s a lot of variety in this song and I am overloaded with joy.

All in all, I am blown away with this debut. They definitely had a sound that many would adore. While they aren’t together anymore this CD still belongs in your mp3 player. All the guitar, bass, vocal, melodies, production value and ball stomping are in full effect which leaves me no choice but to grade this one and only album an A!

Alex Koehler (vocals) and Daniel Jones (guitar) for CHELSEA GRIN took time on a recent stop on the All-Stars Tour to talk to BareBonesMusic.com. Alex and Daniel spoke to Evil G. about how the tour is going so far, the band’s new release, MY DAMNATION (Artery), the reaction from fans and the change from their previous album DESOLATION OF EDEN. The guys also talk about how producer Zeuss (Shadows Fall, Hatebreed, The Acacia Strain) helped the band get the most out of this recording, the difference between this current tour and their previous “Welcome to Hell Tour,” the rigors of touring and their favorite tracks off their new record and much more. On a recent stop on the All-Stars Tour, Kellin Quinn (vocals) and Jesse Lawson (guitar) of SLEEPING WITH SIRENS took time out to speak with BareBonesMusic.com. Evil G. discussed with the guys their new album, LET’S CHEER TO THIS” (Rise Records), reaction from fans, working on their first tour to support the record, how the songs are more representative of what the band wants to be and the progression from the last record, ” With Ears to See and Eyes to Hear.” The guys also reveal some of their favorite tracks from the record and which one’s are making it into their current live set, the addition of new guitarist Justin Hills and some interesting road stories. Recently on a stop on the All-Stars Tour, Steven Bradley (guitar) and John Ganey (guitar) of IWRESTLEDABEARONCE took time out to speak with BareBonesMusic.com. Evil G. discussed with the guys their new album, RUINING IT FOR EVERYBODY (Century Media), the critical and fan reaction to the album, the song writing process for IWABO and why they think they can draw in more new fans with this album because the songs are more cohesive, easier to understand than the last album, yet has more hooks and is also weirder, heavier and better written than ever before and some of the ways the band’s unique song titles come about including the song, “It Is ‘Bro’ Isn’t It?” They also talk about some of the aggressive encounters they’ve had on tour with fans, how one of their most popular t-shirts came out of an ignorant, negative message posted on a metal reviews site, and how IWABO is not only “ruining” music for everyone but apparently Van’s shoes and other “non-metal” attire. Steven also talks about why he started his own t-shirt line, the messages behind the designs and how part of the proceeds are being used to help the VH1′s “Save The Music” Foundation and the band’s passion for such a cause. The guys finally follow-up with the IWABO touring schedule, some of the things they like best about playing in Europe and explain how they still have fun hanging with the fans at shows and online.
